ULTERN POKEMON LEAGUE

Tobi

A well renowned idol of the Ultern Region, this young charismatic man has charmed the hearts of many with his presence in Pokemon Musicals, concerts, TV dramas, talk shows and more. Beyond singing and dancing, Tobi is also skilled in Pokemon Battles and is recognized as a Gym Leader of Turnbloom City due to his proficiency in training Flying-Type Pokemon, and his passion to test his challengers’ skill in battle. He's not always present in his Gym, however due to his work as an idol.

Tobi is more often surrounded by his fangirls whenever he makes his public appearances.

Gym Characteristics

Tobi’s Gym is a concert hall built specifically for his performances. While he does offer regular battles, his stage can be transformed into a large wind tunnel made for his preferred battle style — Sky Battles. However this requires battling with only Pokemon that have the ability to fly or float from the ground.

His Gym Trainers are all his backup dancers, and will likely test the challenger first before letting them reach Tobi. Given their occupation, and keeping with the Flying-type theming, their Pokemon are mostly Oricorio and in varying forms.

Red

A mysterious girl who drifted into Ultern and ended up becoming the region’s new Champion. Not much is known about Red aside from her rather eccentric personality.

Red could be found almost anywhere, rarely staying put at one place.

Professor Banyan

His full name is Beni Banyan. Despite his rough and intimidating appearance upon first impression, Professor Banyan is actually one of the Ultern Region’s highest authority in Pokemon Research. Banyan studies about Drifted Pokemon and observes how they behave and adapt in a brand new environment. He has a strong curiosity towards Pokemon that are rarely encountered in Ultern.

He can be encountered while traversing around Ultern on weekdays. On weekends however, characters will find him in his laboratory in Route 1. Professor Banyan is also willing to offer Pokedex holders an upgrade, giving their Pokedex additional entries for Ulternian Pokemon.

Nurse Emi

Emi helms the Pokemon Center in Turnbloom City, providing first-aid, healing and recovery services to Pokemon Trainers who are traveling across the region. The glittering blue Soaring Badge on her uniform is proof that she is a fan of the Ultern region's biggest idol. However at work she hides her fangirling with her strong air of professionalism.

Cashier Kinjo

This bespectacled young man is an employee of the PokeMart inside Turnbloom's Pokemon Center. If you ever approach him towards the cashier counter, you might notice his tired eyes behind his eyeglasses. Kinjo is always seen accompanied with his Oddish named Wallace, who often entertains customers with its Petal Dance. Much like Emi, he too is a fan of Tobi.

Barista Larson

The barista within Turnbloom’s Pokemon Center’s cafe. A rather cheerful man who is happy to serve treats to whoever he meets. Out of the three staff members of the Pokemon Center, it’s Larson who seemed to be the only one who doesn’t have Tobi’s badge pinned onto his shirt. When asked, he will admit he doesn’t quite get Tobi’s appeal but enjoys his co-workers’ enthusiasm nonetheless.

Grandma Yui

A sweet elderly lady who is the embodiment of Ulternian hospitality. She’s willing to help drifters settle into the region and even offer a place to stay at her residence.
